FAQ

What is the minimum stay?

The minimum stay is 14 nights and we offer a 10% discount for monthly (28 nights) stay and a 20% discount for two months and longer.  We choose a minimum stay of 14 nights after learning that most guests at Nine prefer to have their community around for longer. This helps to deeper the connection and built a stronger community all together. When you are at Nine we really want you to be part of the family and get the chance to connect with other guests.

Can I come just for cowork?

No, the coworking space is available only for Nine guests. Our workspace is not equipped enough to host other people besides that.

What are the prices and what's included?

Prices vary by length of stay and by an occupation of 1 or 2 guests. Check out our rooms for actual prices. Included in the price is cleaning, a daily breakfast, 24/7 use of the workspace and common areas and some activities. While we have a double room with ensuite bathroom, all other rooms share bathrooms with 1 or 2 others.

What are the people staying at Nine like?

Most people at Nine stay between 2 weeks and 1,5 month. Guests are working professionals with a young and adventurous soul. Nine is not a party place, but guests are overall very social and like to meet other digital nomads and locals. Maybe you wouldn’t expect this, but over all we like to call guests at Nine ‘social introverts’, meaning that they love to connect with others, but also need there own space to recharge.

What is your cancellation policy?

We charge your first 14 nights as a deposit when you book online.
- Cancellation before 14 days before arrival: we save your deposit as a credit for your a future stay. In case someone books your room in the first 14 nights of your booking, we refund you the nights that are booked.
- Cancellation within 14 days of arrival: you loose your deposit unless someone books your room for the first 14 nights of your booking. In that case we refund you the nights that are booked.
- Let us know asap if you need to cancel, for a higher chance to find you a replacement.

What if I need to leave for a few days during my stay?

If you need to leave during your stay, for example for work or to go on a trip to a different island, you pay the full price for the nights you are gone. As you can imagine, we can’t rent out your room to someone else and so we have counted on these nights being payed. The room stays yours and we won’t use it for someone else. We sometimes make an exception if someone in the house wants to take over the nights, but that is to be arranged between the two of you and then discusted with the host.

Can I pick a specific room when I book?

No, we don’t offer this option. Even though rooms at Nine are all quite different, be also believe that all of them are great rooms and that each of them have their unique charm. The reason we don’t let you pick if more practical though. When we let people pick rooms in our booking system, we end up with a lot of gaps in between stays and I hope you can imagine we can not afford this happening.
Have a really strong preference for a certain room? Send us an email and we will always try to accommodate as much as possible.

Is there a kitchen I can use?

Yes there is! We have a fully equipped kitchen that can be used by all guests. The kitchen is especially designed for out community, with two stove tops, two ovens and lots of counter top space. Every guest at Nine has their own box for groceries and a shelf in the fridge.

Can I bring children?

We love kids! But unfortunately, because of the work environment and the configuration of the house, we believe that Nine is not very well suited for children.

Can I bring pets?

We are animal lovers! But unfortunately, we don’t allow animals at Nine.

Can I have a friend or partner stay with me for part of my stay?

This is possible if you have a double room. For the nights you friend/partner joins you, you just pay the fixed price of 22 euro per night. They then have full access to everything we offer at Nine, just like you do. If your friend/partner stays longer than 7 nights, we adjust the price of the room to a 2 person double room.

How does payment work?

You pay your first 14 nights when you make your booking online. The remaining amount, along with other extra’s like consumptions, are payed at the end of your stay.

What do you mean by coliving?

Coliving indicates people living together, it exists in several forms all over the world. At Nine this means that people come stay temporarily to live, work from our coworking and meet others. Because we mostly offer private rooms, Nine provides you with a combination of privacy and community.

Why are you based in the north of Tenerife  instead of the south?

We just love it here! The south of the island basically didn't exist 20 years ago, because there was only desert. The Canarians chose to live on the North side because the climate was better to grow plantations. Because of this, the north side is full of history and culture. Its rains a little more yes, but this results in a much greener landscape. Read more about why we chose the north of Tenerife on our blog.

How do I get to Nine from the airport?

First of all, it's good to know, that when it comes to public transport, Google Maps might show up incorrect routes on this island. So when you look up busses, make sure to double check on the website of the local bus company Titsa

Tenerife has two airports, the South and the North airport. The easiest way to get to Nine is via the North Airport.

From the North Airport there is an airport bus (number 30 direction Puerto de la Cruz) to La Orotava. From the bus stop Enlace Orotava it is a 15 min walk to Nine (up the hill).

From the North Airport you can also take a taxi. It takes 20 minutes and costs between 30 and 35 euro.

From the South Airport you take bus 343 to Puerto de la Cruz and then transfer at El Canario onto a bus to La Orotava bus station. The total ride takes about 1,5 hours. From La Orotava bus station it is a 8 min walk to Nine.

From El Canario to La Orotava you can jump on the lines 352, 345 and the 101. When you get off the bus at El Canario, cross to the bus stop to the other side of the road.

Another option is to take bus 343 all the way to the main station of Puerto de la Cruz and from there, either jump on a but to La Orotava bus station or take a taxi to Nine. The taxi ride is about 10 min drive and costs around 10 euros.

Please always double check the Titsa website for the latest updates on the routes - these may change due to festivities, seasons etc..

Car rental. There are many car rental agencies at both the North and South airport and also close to Nine Coliving. The cheapest deals can be found at the South Airport. They can be quite cheap, however, addition of optional insurance can make the cost much higher. Tip: Have travel insurance that covers car rentals so that you don't have to pay the additional costs at the rental agency.

Parking in the centre of La Orotava is free although finding a spot may be a few streets walking distance to Nine. You can find free and safe parking across from Tasca Villera de tapa en tapa.

Do I need a car during my stay?

At Nine usually 50% of the guests decides to hire a car for their stay. We would recommend this if you want to explore the island at its fullest. Buses on Tenerife are okay, but they take more time and don’t reach everywhere so you might have to walk more.

If you want to join the Nine community for adventures and activities there is usually enough cars to share. You will have to be a bit more flexible but if that is not a problem for you, you might be fine without a car.

Can I get food at Nine?

We offer a daily fresh breakfast that is included in your stay. Other than that we don't have a café or restaurant. We offer a community lunch on Tuesday and Thursday and organise family dinners on Wednesdays that you can join for a small fee. The communal kitchen is fully equipped and can be used by everyone. On a two minutes walk from Nine Coliving you’ll find a big supermarket and lots of cafes and restaurants to fill up your belly!

What activities do you offer and which ones are included?

At Nine we try to organise activities to bond with other guests, explore the island or just have some fun together. Some activities are for free, like our yoga and workout classes, skill shares and weekend activities.

What currency do they use in Tenerife?

Euro/€. And did you know that in Tenerife we only have a 7% tax? That means most things are even cheaper than mainland Spain!

What's the weather like in Tenerife?

Tenerife has good weather all year round. It has a lot of micro climates so there is always a nice sunny beach within an hour drive. La Orotava is on the North side of the island, also called the wet side of the island. But don't let that scare you! Yes, there might be more rain than in the south, but we still have a very sunny climate. In winter temperatures during the day vary from 18 degrees to 25 and in summer from 24 to 30 degrees. The biggest difference is the cooler nights in the winter, where you definitely need a good hoody. Read our blog for more info on the climate in Tenerife, also compared to the other Canarian islands.
